Arpanet(Advanced Research Project Agency Network):
Arpanet was jointly developed by Advanced Research Project Agency(Arpa) and US Department of Defence(DoD). It was the first network developed in 1969. This network was used to connect different universities and US DoD for sharing of data and messages.
NSFNET (National Science Federation Network):
It was another network developed by the US Federal agency. Its was faster than arpanet and was basically used for academic research
Internet:
In the 1990’s, internet, which is a network of networks, came into existence. The internet has evolved from ARPANET. The computers are connected through World Wide Web that comprises a large network and shares a common communication protocol (Transmission Control Protocol-Internet Protocol, TCP/IP).
